Frequently Asked Questions

Starting something new can bring up questions. Below, you will find answers to the questions people ask most often about the trauma-sensitive yoga groups. If your question is not answered here, you are welcome to write to me at triinuyoga@gmail.com or send me a message on WhatsApp. You can also ask anything during the private introductory call, before you decide whether to join.

Do I need previous yoga experience?

No. The practice suits beginners and doesn't require flexibility or physical fitness.

Do I need a PTSD diagnosis?

No. A formal diagnosis is not required. The groups are intended for people affected by military service and the effects of the ongoing war.

Will I need to talk about what happened?

No. This is a body-based yoga group, not group psychotherapy. You will not be asked to tell your story or describe traumatic events.

Will reservists and their partners practice together?

No. There will be two separate groups: one for reservists and people currently serving, and another for partners, family members and close people. Each group will have its own participants and meet separately.

Why are the groups separate?

Reservists and the people close to them may be affected by the war in different ways. Separate groups allow participants to practice among people living with more similar circumstances, without needing to explain, protect or take responsibility for the experience of a partner or family member.

Will both groups follow the same program?

Both groups will follow the same trauma-sensitive principles and general 10-week structure. The pace and emphasis may be adapted to the needs and experiences of each group.

How many participants will be in each group?

Each group will include between 5 and 10 participants.

What if I cannot perform a movement?

Every practice is an invitation. You may adapt a movement, remain in another position, rest, or choose not to participate in that particular exercise.

What if closing my eyes is uncomfortable?

You may keep your eyes open throughout the entire meeting.

Is there physical contact?

There will be no unexpected physical contact or hands-on adjustment. Any physical contact from the teacher will take place only after a clear explanation and with your explicit consent.

Is trauma-sensitive yoga a substitute for therapy?

No. The group may provide complementary support, but it does not replace psychological, psychiatric, or medical treatment.

Are there any proofs or more information about Trauma- Sensitive Yoga Therapy?

Yes, there are. Trauma-Sensitive Yoga is also included in war veterans' rehabilitation programs at Sheba Medical Center and other hospitals and NGO organizations.

What if I have an injury or physical limitation?

Please mention it in the health and intake form and during the introductory call. My orthopedic yoga-therapy background allows me to offer adaptations.

Where do the meetings take place?

The meetings take place at Triinu Yoga Studio in Herzliya Pituach. Free street parking is available. The exact address and arrival instructions will be provided after the introductory call.

What language will be used?

The default language is Hebrew. English or bilingual instruction may also be possible, depending on the group's needs. If you prefer English, please mention this during the introductory call.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

If you have your own mat, please bring it. If you do not have one, the studio has a limited number of mats available. We will provide all other required equipment.

What happens if I miss a meeting?

Please let me know in advance whenever possible. Registration is for the complete 10-week program, so missed meetings are not refundable and cannot be deducted from the program fee.

Can I cancel after the program begins?

Once the 10-week program has started, the fee is non-refundable, regardless of how many meetings you attend.
